Mindfulness practice day

sensing bannerThere are many doorways into the aliveness of this moment, and our sense-doors are a tried and tested route. By being directly aware of our senses, we open out from the auto-pilot or the ’virtual reality’ we might find ourselves in, and find ourselves in touch with the immediacy of presence. As W.B. Yeats is believed to have said: “The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” So what would happen if we spent a day practising being a little more awake to our senses, noticing both what is happening internally and what’s around us?

You’re warmly invited to join the practice day in the bright studio and springtime garden of the Salisbury Centre in Edinburgh. We will start at 10am with taking a moment to hear how you are doing, and then ease into silence and practice, until returning outward again at 4pm. The day will be spaciously filled with various moving and still practices, mostly guided but also leaving space for deepening into your own kind of silence. We will also have times to breathe in the fresh air of the garden around us, nourished by a vegetarian shared lunch in silence and replenishing tea breaks.
